Inevitable Preventabilities
Bunfus

Yeah, I’m still trying to do this anyway.

I should figure out the Latin for “Some Consequences Are Predictable…” and “…Others Are Preventable”, and get the sayings tattooed1 on my palms, so they’re fully visible when I smack myself around later this month.2

Breaking Even

The jack o’lanterns we carved last weekend rotted in two days. The weather turned from pleasantly cool to summery warm overnight, and stayed that way just long enough for the pumpkins to become saggy and fuzzed on the inside all black and green and ick. I shrugged, chucked them, picked up some faux ones, and guess what happened when I carved one of those? Yep, the weather turned the sharp bright clear cool ("chili weather" we call it) that’s perfect for keeping pumpkins.

No really ... going to get better about crossposting.

It's September. Almost October, which is my favorite month of the year. September 29th marks the first official day I can decorate for Halloween (my homeowner's association has a bug up about not decorating for a holiday more than 30 days beforehand), and oh, you betcha I've already hauled everything out of the basement. Almost everything. Okay, about half of everything. It's possible I may have as many Halloween decorations as I do winter holiday ones.

The Monster's already picked out two pumpkins for carving, and if the weather stays gorgeous like it's been...

I just found this in the middle of my home office Inbox…

“They won’t sell to oudur.”

“Whatdyou mean?”

“Just that. The Traveler brought us here, so the Traveler need provide.”

“They don’t get out much.”

“They don’t need to.  Here. Something to quiet your stomach until after our meeting with Sanneach.”

“Where’d this come from?”

“The Traveler provides.”

Filling In The Blanks

For those of you following along at home — I haven’t armadilloed again or anything.  I’ve just been doing a lot of filling in the blanks lately.

Hi, My Name Is Cheese.

The Monster’s decided to give everyone nicknames. Mine’s ‘Cheese’. I think it’s because I smile a lot.

No, really. Those are smiles, damn it. Don’t make me hurt you.

I finished all but one tiny bit of Project #3 last Saturday. Just needed five hundred words or so to get everything wrapped up, so I was feeling really good about myself. Not physically good, mind. The stupid cold turned into a stupid sinus infection, and I’m just now getting over that.

Math doesn’t stick. Put math on my brain and it slides right off, like my gray matter’s got a nice fresh coat of Teflon.

This bugs me. This has always bugged me. Everything else academic? Pfft. Just takes some attention. The more I devote to a subject, poof, the easier it is for me to noodle through.

Salad Abuse

Today’s chicken breast was plain and cold, so I dressed it up in a chop of parsley, basil, oregano, sea salt, green garlic and black pepper and splashed olive oil behind its imaginary ears before I threw it into the weeds (red and green leaf lettuce, baby arugula) and pelted it with carrot and sun-dried tomato shreds.

Yesterday was … yesterday. A blur, anyway.

Rough Ideas
Bunfus

This blog post has been in and out of the trash for nearly two weeks. I usually don't rescue things after I throw them in the trash -- as I think I've mentioned before, I'm good at throwing things away. The ideas here have been bugging me, though, so I'd guess I'd better share them so they'll go away, stay away, and not even think of creeping back into any breakfast conversations.

Ideas? Yes. Plural. There are two. Possibly two and a half, but there's definitely more than one. At least three. On second thought, there could be four or five. Here, I'll make a li ... no, never mind. I figure the best way to keep this from continuing to be a spherical firehose will be to stick to one idea.
